Managing Director

CG Detroit is a premier graphics company that has been pioneering creative and innovative marketing solutions in the form of vehicle wraps, wall murals, dimensional signage, fabrication and graphic design for over 30 years. The company is part of JR Thompson, LLC (JRT, LLC), a 49-year-old marketing services company, and specializes in highly customized programs for the motorsports, fleet and franchise industries, providing turnkey design, ordering, distribution and installation across the U.S. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director to lead CG Detroit toward new heights of success.

As the Managing Director of CG Detroit, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all facets of our operation, ensuring efficiency, profitability and continued growth. This leadership position demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing financials, leading teams and optimizing manufacturing processes within the graphics industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management and Growth
Ultimately responsible for CG Detroit’s ongoing financial performance with strong support from the CG Detroit staff and expanded JRT, LLC leadership team. Monitor, analyze and ensure strong financial performance, maximizing gross margin performance and company profitability while retaining a high level of quality, productivity and client satisfaction. Also responsible for ongoing practices of pricing/quoting, purchase orders/approvals, billing, AP/AR and monthly performance reporting.
  • Leadership and Team Management
Lead a company of 15-20 passionate employees, with direct supervision, counsel and collaboration with department leaders across sales, operations, production and administration disciplines. Since the largest part of CG Detroit’s success is based on the performance of its personnel, it will be up to the Managing Director to employ strong emotional intelligence capabilities to oversee and develop pathways and responsibility growth for qualified team members. This includes clearly communicating company goals and expectations to the staff at-large.
  • Operational Excellence
Work with department leads to continuously assess and optimize manufacturing processes for enhanced efficiency, quality and productivity, also mitigating costly production mistakes. Become familiar with the entire production process and machinery to help establish best practices for project management, production schedules and installation resources.
  • Customer/Supplier Relations
CG Detroit has many long-standing relationships with clients, supplier-partners and independent installers. While CG department leaders are chiefly responsible for maintaining those relationships, a substantial role of the Managing Director is to support those activities by showcasing senior management commitment and conflict resolution. In addition, the individual will collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities, as well as execute promotional plans to raise the company’s profile industry-wide.
  • Strategic Business Planning
Work closely with JRT, LLC leadership to develop and implement the company’s strategic vision and long-term goals by evaluating market trends and competition to identify areas for growth and diversification. Also work with JRT team members to maximize client opportunities where both JRT and CG teams contribute, such as experiential projects.

The Managing Director, CG Detroit, will be an integral member of the JRT, LLC leadership team, and report to the CEO, JRT/CG Detroit. In his role, the CEO is responsible for driving both JRT and CG brands to sustain growth in client brand-based traditional and digital marketing services, including experiential and promotional graphics.

Qualifications:

  • Strong financial acumen with a successful track record in budget management and financial reporting
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams
